Durham Durham:

The national magazine Utne Reader named Durham as one of our most enlightened cities. With its history in factories, farms and finance, today Durham is home to Duke University, North Carolina Central University, Research Triangle Park and the Durham Bulls, the most famous minor league baseball team in the world.

Thousands of film lovers flock to Durham's Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. Hosted at the historic Carolina Theater, the event is listed in Entertainment Weekly's "It List" and has more submissions than the Sundance Film Festival. Lovers of dance are enchanted by the American Dance Festival, an entire season with the world's most electrifying dance companies. Attracting artists from across the country, the Durham Art Council's annual CenterFest is a colorful street arts festival. You can see how Durham received Carnegie Mellon's #1 ranking on the Creativity Index out of 300 similar-sized counties nationwide.

Fantastic shopping, including Brightleaf Square and The Streets at Southpoint, is in Durham, as is the gourmet cuisine of Four Square, Nana's, Fosters Market and Magnolia Grill. Medical care is top notch as is evident through Durham's moniker, "The City of Medicine". Durham is also home to a championship sports team, the Duke Blue Devils. The Eno River State Park, Duke Forest and the spectacular grounds of the Sarah P. Duke Gardens offer breathtaking natural surroundings.
